Dear Local 791 Members,
As we all watch the number of Covid19 cases rise in
Many of you have heard that Stop and Shop has given their Employees a final one-time bonus to settle legal action brought against it by the Unions representing its Employees for eliminating Appreciation/Hazard Pay. As of this writing, Shaw's has expressed no interest in doing the same.
However, Local 791 does have three Class Action Grievances against Shaw's in an attempt to reinstate Appreciation/Hazard pay for our members. These grievances will be making their way to Arbitration in the near future, and we welcome the opportunity to negotiate a settlement with the Company if it is fair and equitable for our Members.
We continue to work in a Pandemic environment, we are required to wear masks in the workplace, we are urged to social distance, and we are required to quarantine if we show any symptoms of Covid19. These are very stressful and uncertain times for all of us, but in spite of the challenges, we show up to work every day without complaint, to serve the consumers.
The Company's upper level management must be made aware that without the workers on the front lines, there would be no sales, no profits, and no Company! Stay safe, stay united.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Russell Regan, President
