Attention Local 791 Union Members

March 17, 2021

Governor Charlie Baker has announced that some frontline workers, that includes grocery and food service workers, will be able to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination shot beginning on Monday, March 22, 2021.

Vaccination site information can be found at https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-vaccination-locations

March 25, 2021

Dear Local 791 Members,

Essential workers have finally become eligible to be vaccinated.  This is obviously good news for our Members, who put their health and wellbeing at risk every time they report to work.  Since the vaccination process differs somewhat from State to State, we recommend you visit your State’s designated Covid19 website to find out how it is handling the vaccination process.  Also, the State Board of Education has given the Cities and Towns in Massachusetts the green light to start returning students to in-person learning, although these return dates will vary depending on each school district’s ability to safely implement in-person learning.

In other Covid related news, Shaw’s will pay Covid replacement pay for those who were forced to take time off without pay, or forced to use personal sick time within the next couple of weeks. In addition to this, Local 791 is preparing for the second day of hearing for the Appreciation/Hazard Pay Arbitration case, scheduled to be heard on May 10, 2021.

Finally, Local 791 is currently engaged in contract negotiations for our Members Employed by Capstone Logistics and we hope to reach an agreement with Capstone before the contract expires on April 15, 2021.

Stay safe, stay united.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Russell Regan
President
