2021 UFCW LOCAL 791 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
June 7, 2021 Dear Local 791 Retail Employees working in Massachusetts, The   Massachusetts   State   Legislature   has   voted   to   make   June 19th   a   State   Holiday   starting   this   year.   That   makes   June   19th a voluntary work day for our Retail Members. Since   the   June   19th   Holiday   is   not   included   in   our   Collective Bargaining   Agreements,   if   you   elect   to   take   that   day   off,   you will   not   be   paid .     However,   if   you   do   elect   to   work   it,   the   law requires you be paid above and beyond straight time. The   Company   and   the   Union   have   reached   an   agreement whereby    Shaw’s    will    pay    all    Local    791    Retail    Employees, working   in   Massachusetts,   who   elect   to   work   on   that   day,   time and   one   half   for   all   hours   worked.       In   fact,   the   law   only requires   that   the   Company   pay   an   additional   1.2   percent   of your   hourly   wage   rather   than   1.5   percent,   but   we   were   able to reach an agreement for the additional increase. Please contact the Union Office, if you have any questions. Sincerely and fraternally, Russell Regan President UFCW Local 791
BUILD BACK BETTER WITH UNIONS Outdated labor laws have hampered our fundamental right to join together and negotiate for better wages, benefits and working conditions. The Protecting the Right to Organize Act will empower America’s workers and make our economy work for working people.
